RACHAEL PHILIP IS A COMPOSER SPECIALISING IN SCORING FOR SCREEN BASED IN MANCHESTER, UK.
​​​With a passion for storytelling around human experience, Rachael has an intuitive and experimental approach to music, often working with live instruments and field recordings and using sound design and electro-acoustic techniques to weave dream-like, shimmering textures in her pieces. As part of this process, she often self-records and experiments with a range of instruments. Her music has been described as 'absorbing and immersive' by Pink Wafer magazine and as a 'potent hit of catharsis'.

With most recent work including writing on a feature documentary due for release in 2026, Rachael has written for numerous award-winning and award-nominated films and commercials, which have screened at Cannes, San Sebastian, Rotterdam, British Arrows, Neum, and Green Screen and COP26, with broadcast work featuring on BBC Radio 3 Night Tracks and 'Round Midnight, BBC Sounds Sleeping Forecast, BBC Morning Live, Channel 4 and France 3, TF1, CBC News Canada, NHK World Japan amongst others.

Rachael's film credits include Prangover by Celine Buckens (Showtrial, The ExWife, War Horse) and Strange Days by Alice Seabright (Sex Education, Chloe). Her commercial credits include writing for Hermes Paris fashion brand and Edwards Lifesciences, in addition to charities and trusts including St Martin-In-The-Fields, Roundhouse and Winston's Wish.

Rachael has also worked as part of the music department with Segun Akinola on Doctor Who: Series 13, Simon Verhoeven's Milli Vanilli biopic Girl You Know It's True and Mammoth Screens’ Agatha Christie adaption Murder Is Easy for BBC and Britbox, and BBC natural history series Kingdom narrated by Sir David Attenborough. Her work also extends to music editing, having worked in this capacity on Season 7 of the critically acclaimed Sky Original comedy series, BRASSIC and Richard Brown and Tebogo Malope's Origin: The Story of the Basketball Africa League, now on ESPN.

With a diverse musical background and an interest in a range of styles, Rachael is both classically trained and self-taught, having started out playing cello and going on to learn electric and acoustic guitar, bass guitar, piano and clarinet. ​Rachael is a graduate of the National Film and Television School with awarded scholarships from the Leverhulme Trust and BBC. She was also selected to be part of BFI Network x BAFTA Crew and BAFTA Connect.
Inspired by a passion for nature and the outdoors, Rachael is also a qualified Mountain Leader for the hills of the UK and Ireland.
